Before you come.
Do you take reservations?
Yes — both tables and the sushi counter can be booked. Reservations open thirty days ahead and close two hours before the sitting. Walk-ins are welcome and seated as seats allow — when we are full, we seat from a waitlist in the order people arrive. A booked table is held for ten minutes past the reservation time; after that it is treated as a no-show and released.
How much is the Komekase, and how long does it take?
Two tiers: Kaze — twelve courses at $35 — and Tsuki, the fifteen-course counter menu at $45. Plan on about an hour from the first piece to the last.
How do I get to Komegashi?
We are at 99 Town Square Pl, Jersey City, NJ 07310, on the Newport waterfront — about a four-minute walk from the Newport PATH station. Plenty of public parking is nearby; see the visit page.
What are your hours?
We are open Tuesday – Friday, 11:30 AM – 3:00 PM, 5:00 – 9:00 PM; Saturday – Sunday, 11:30 AM – 9:00 PM; closed Monday.
Where does the fish come from?
Our fish comes from various local seafood suppliers — sourced globally and chosen for quality first, and every step is handled strictly by food-safety regulations and by the Edomae tradition of curing, aging and marinating so each piece arrives at its peak.
Is there a vegetarian option?
There is no vegetarian omakase, but the small plates and grill menu go a long way — edamame, fried baby corn, sweet-potato fries and others make a proper meal between them.
Can you handle food allergies?
Tell us when you book or flag it with the server, and we will steer you to what the kitchen can safely make. Dishes built to order are the easiest to adjust.
Can I order from the full menu for takeout?
Takeout has its own menu — sushi and maki sets packed to go, à la carte nigiri and rolls, rice and teriyaki bowls, and a few starters and sides. Not everything travels, so the takeout menu is the honest answer.
Do you serve lunch?
Yes — lunch sets from the sushi bar, the grill and the tempura fryer, every set with seasonal side dishes and soup. See the lunch menu for what is on.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, all major credit cards and contactless payments (Apple Pay and the like), and we can issue a receipt for your visit.
What language is service in?
Service is in English.
